This month, Triple C is bringing Ohio higher education and community partners together around student basic needs, civic engagement, leadership development, and opportunities to strengthen campus-community partnerships.
Student Basic Needs | The Big Table Discussion
On September 29, Triple C and The Columbus Foundation will bring together higher education professionals, nonprofit and community leaders, students, and other partners for The Big Table Discussion on Student Basic Needs. The conversation will focus on the challenges facing Ohio college students and how campus and community partners can work together to strengthen support.
Propel Ohio | America at 250
Propel Ohio Collegiate Leadership Summit returns October 2 at Bowling Green State University. This year’s summit, themed “America at 250: Preparing the Next Generation of Civic Leaders,” will bring students and campus leaders together for civic engagement, leadership development, meaningful dialogue, and community impact. Registration is open through September 25.
Election Protection Opportunities for Member Campuses
Triple C is supporting the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition’s Election Protection efforts through funding from Ohio Voice. The opportunity provides Triple C member campuses with ways to participate in nonpartisan voter education, volunteer engagement, and Election Protection efforts leading up to the November election.
Connecting Through Ohio Communities Thriving
The Ohio Communities Thriving team — Cael, Noah, and Shelby — recently attended the Commonwealth Community and Civic Engagement Forum through Triple C’s partnership with EngageKY. The three-day gathering connected civic and community engagement professionals for learning, relationship-building, and conversations about the work ahead.
Opportunities from The Alliance & Our Partners
Triple C continues to connect member institutions with professional development and collaboration opportunities through The Alliance for Campus Community Engagement. Upcoming opportunities include the 2026 Idea to Action Incubator and the Transform Mid-Atlantic Service-Learning & Civic Engagement Conference.
Civic Engagement Resources
With several important civic engagement dates approaching, Triple C is sharing resources to help campuses prepare. National Voter Education Week, October 5–9, offers ready-to-use tools for campus outreach, while Vote Early Day, October 24, provides another opportunity to share information about voting options and encourage students to make a voting plan.
The newsletter also highlights a new article exploring the growth of civic seals, which are now in place in 20 states as a way to recognize students for putting civic knowledge into practice through meaningful engagement.
Partner Opportunities & News You Can Use
Additional opportunities featured this month include a conflict management training from Ashland University, FY27 Ohio AmeriCorps Competitive Operational Grants from ServeOhio, the new Catalyst journal focused on service-learning and community engagement, and news related to student support and basic needs in higher education.
