The Charles J. Ping Student Service award is designed to recognize and honor undergraduate students at Triple C campus partner institutions for their outstanding leadership and contributions to community service or service-learning on their campus and within their community. These students represent the next generation of civic and community leaders and problem solvers.
Students are nominated by their college or university president. Each campus partner institution can nominate one student to be recognized as a Charles J. Ping award winner. This recognition is granted annually to undergraduates at Triple C campus partner institutions.
Two students will receive the additional recognition of Legacy Award winner. These students will receive a $250 donation made in their honor to a nonprofit organization of their choice. The Legacy Award donations are presented by Community Campus Coalition.
The award is named in honor of the late Charles J. Ping who served as President of Ohio University from 1975 – 1994. An early supporter and Board Member of Community Campus Coalition, Ping was a tireless advocate for campus-community partnerships and increased opportunities for students to become active and engaged citizens.
